At roughly 1,100 metres, Vagamon stays between 10°C and 28°C all year — there is genuinely no bad month. What changes is the character: crisp misty mornings in winter, dramatic waterfalls in monsoon, and clear paragliding skies from October to May.
The short answer: September to February is the sweet spot — post-monsoon greenery, cool air and clear views. The long answer depends on what you want from the hills.
October to February — Peak Season (Best Overall)
Daytime temperatures of 18–24°C, nights dipping to 10–15°C, and morning mist that pours over the meadows like a tide. This is prime time for paragliding, jeep safaris, trekking and campfire evenings. December and January are the coldest and most romantic months — also the busiest, so book stays 2–3 weeks ahead.
March to May — Summer Escape
While Kerala's plains cross 35°C, Vagamon holds a pleasant 20–28°C. This is when families and weekend crowds from Kochi and Kottayam head up for relief. Skies are clear, all activities run, and early summer (March–April) sees the meadows at their golden-brown, windswept best.
June to September — Monsoon Magic
The southwest monsoon turns Vagamon surreal — every slope neon green, waterfalls at full throttle, and clouds drifting through the resort itself. Paragliding pauses and some trails get slippery, but if you love rain, mist and reading on a cottage sit-out with hot chai, there is no better season. Rates are also at their lowest.
Month-by-Month Snapshot
January: cold, misty, festive crowds. February: cool and clear — ideal. March–April: warm days, golden meadows. May: pre-monsoon showers begin. June–August: heavy rain, lush and quiet. September: rain retreats, everything still green — a hidden-gem month. October–November: post-monsoon perfection. December: peak romance, peak demand.
What to Pack for Vagamon
Year-round: light woollens for evenings, walking shoes and sunscreen. Winter (Nov–Feb): a proper jacket — nights get properly cold. Monsoon (Jun–Sep): raincoat, umbrella and quick-dry footwear. Paragliding season: book flight slots a day or two ahead as mornings have the best wind.
